Our Personal Projects

At Dono.co.nz we don’t just make websites for other people. We also run our own sites, both for the learning opportunities and, of course, the massive profits. Our current projects include:

HappyCamping.co.nz

Happy Camping is an attractive, easy to use directory of New Zealand’s best camping and camper van sites. Built around an interactive Google map, it includes directions, camp site contact details and descriptions, and reviews from other campers.

We built this site as it seemed that most camp site directories were stale and disorganised. Happy Camping aims to be a helpful, fun website that encourages people to share their camping experiences. Check it out!

ShopIreland.ie

Shop Ireland was set up to help people in Ireland buy from Amazon.co.uk in their local currency. Amazon’s prices were listed in UK Sterling, but a great number of people in Ireland were paying in Euro.

Using Amazon’s product API, we built this site to act as a translator for Amazon’s prices, with a self-updating conversion rate that ensures that the prices are always accurate. We were able to test some SEO ideas, resulting in some very strong visitor numbers from the search engines.

The site has enjoyed significant success over the last 6 years, and continues to act as a useful online tool for Irish shoppers.

CatchyPass.com

Catchypass is a fun little project that generates pseudo-english passwords that are supposed to be easy to remember but hard to guess. It uses some fancy schmancy linguistic technology to assemble the passwords from a set of syllables.

The site is designed to be as lightweight as possible, with no images used and minimal html / javascript.
